In June of 1980 Mercedes returned to live in USA to continued her formal studies of Traditional Naturopathic Medicine and deepen her knowledge of the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Nutrition and Counseling. After studies in the principles of Oriental Medicine and the properties of American and Oriental medicinal herbs, she participated in academic research in Mind-Heart integrative practices for healing. The same year Mercedes Cecilia became a student of the Dalai Lama and Thich Nhat Hanh.

In 1986 I moved full-time to the Catskill Mountains. This is the place I love every day, in every season. I live in Woodstock, New York, surrounded by mountains, stream, and reservoirs forests and a community who cares for our environment and everyone’s wellbeing.
In July of 1992, I traveled to Arizona to meet Mary Burmeister and recieve a week of Jin Shin Jyutsu® Intensive treatments. Every day I felt more vitality, a renewed enthusiasm, and trusting my interconectedness with life and the Cosmos. The next 7 years, every July, I visited Mary to receive a week of - 2 times a day treatments- of Jin Shin Jyutsu treatments from Mary at Mary Burmeister Institute in Arizona. I knew I had found what I have been searching for all my life! The Art of Compassion, and Healing…Physio-Philosophy, Nature-Efforless Reality. With Mary’s encoragement, I attended my first 5 day Seminar with Philomena Dooley to study the art of Jin Shin Jyutsu®. Everyday I am greatful to Mary and Mr. Burmeister, to their children and family and to all JSJ teachers and students, and all kinder spirits who study.

I continue studying Jin Shin Jyutsu® by attending 4 - in person Seminars every year, taught by the Faculty of Jin Shin Jyutsu. I also join online Jin Shin Jyutsu® Webinars and hosts small study groups in Woodstock, and neighboring towns.
